Educational workshops & discussions groups are lead by adoption professionals and adoptive parents. AFCR's calendar page has information on upcoming AFCR workshops & discussion groups. Educational programs are held at convenient locations in Albany county.  Information on AFCR’s workshop policies is listed below. Social events have included children’s culture day, family activities (apple picking, outings at families homes, museum visits, hayrides), and playgroups. Playgroups are hosted in AFCR's members homes. They are open to both AFCR members and non-members. To learn about AFCR’s playgroup  use this button                   to send AFCR an email and a volunteer will contact you. Join AFCR's email list

Children's Culture Day is a fun filled afternoon of activities and entertainment celebrating our children's culture and learning about countries. It is generally held on a Saturday in the spring. Registration is required for this event. Look for registration information on AFCR's email list.

AFCR hosts an Adoption Fair every November where prospective adoptive parents can meet with adoption professionals (agencies, lawyers, social workers) and adoptive parents to learn of the many ways to build a family by adoption. The 2013 Adoption Fair will be on November 4, 2013.

AFCR’s workshops are generally held at these two locations:

Colonie Community Center - 1653 Central Ave, Albany    The Colonie Community Center is 1.2 miles west of Wolf Rd.  The Auditorium is in the front wing of the building.  The East Lounge and Room 8 are in the right wing of the building. The Colonie Community Center is across the street from Lake Electronics.
McKownville United Methodist Church - 1656 Western Ave, Guilderland. The church is between I-87 and the entrance to Crossgates Mall.  The parking lot is behind the church. Use the stairs on the left to access the meeting rooms.

Workshop policies
Workshops are free and open to the public.
Reservations are not required with the exception of some cultural events.
Children of all ages are not allowed at evening workshops unless specifically stated in the event description.  Children are welcome at social events.
If a workshop needs to be canceled due to bad weather AFCR's voice mail            518-763-8019 will be updated.
